A Point of Interest (POI) is a location that riders may want to visit or stop at while travelling along a route.
Unlike a Destination, which is usually the final location of a ride or event, a POI highlights interesting, useful or important places along the journey.
Together, Routes, POIs, Destinations and Events help riders plan complete motorcycle adventures.
Understanding Routes, POIs, Destinations and Events
Each feature has a different purpose:
- Routes show how to get there.
- Points of Interest (POIs) highlight places to stop along the route.
- Destinations are where you’re going.
- Events bring riders together at a destination on a specific date and time.
For example:
Route: Auckland to Coromandel
Along the route you may have several POIs:
- Scenic lookout
- Fuel station
- Café
- Waterfall
- Public toilets
The ride then finishes at its Destination, such as a restaurant, campground or motorcycle event.

POIs should provide useful information for riders.
