Help Riders Discover Great Stops Along the Way
Points of Interest (POIs) are places that riders may want to stop at while travelling along a route.
Unlike a destination, which is usually the final location of a ride or event, POIs add value to the journey by highlighting useful or interesting places along the way.
Examples include:
- Scenic lookouts
- Fuel stations
- Coffee stops
- Public toilets
- Rest areas
- Waterfalls
- Historic landmarks
- Visitor centres
- Motorcycle dealerships
- Photo opportunities
Before You Create a POI
Before adding a new Point of Interest, search to see if it already exists.
Using existing POIs helps keep the Your2Wheels database organised and prevents duplicate entries.
Only create a new POI if it cannot already be found.
Creating a POI
There are two ways to create a Point of Interest.
Option 1 – While Creating or Editing a Route
As you’re building a route, you can add POIs to highlight places riders may wish to stop along the journey.
This is the most common way to create POIs, as it allows you to place them exactly where they occur on your route.
Option 2 – Create a POI Directly
You can also create POIs without creating a route.
To do this:
- Open My Points of Interest.
- Click Add Point of Interest.
- Complete the POI details.
- Add photos (recommended).
- Save your POI.
Your POI can then be added to routes whenever needed.
Completing the POI Details
The more information you provide, the more useful your POI becomes.
Include:
- Name
- Description
- Accurate map location
- Category
- Rider facilities
- Opening hours (if applicable)
- Contact details (if applicable)
- Website or social media links (if available)
Adding Photos
Photos help riders recognise a location before they arrive.
Useful photos include:
- Scenic views
- Parking areas
- Café or fuel station entrance
- Motorcycle parking
- Nearby facilities
Tips
Think about what would help another rider.
Would they need to know:
- Is fuel available?
- Is food available?
- Are there toilets?
- Is it a good regrouping point?
- Is there motorcycle parking?
Helpful POIs make routes more enjoyable and easier to plan.
