Plan the Perfect Motorcycle Adventure
One of the great advantages of Your2Wheels is that it allows you to plan much more than just a route.
By combining Routes, Destinations, Points of Interest (POIs) and Events, you can create a complete riding experience for yourself or others.
Whether you’re organising a solo ride, a group ride or a community event, following a simple planning process will help ensure everything runs smoothly.
Step 1 – Decide Where You’re Going
Every great ride starts with a destination.
Choose where you want your ride to finish, whether that’s:
- A café
- A scenic lookout
- A campground
- A motorcycle dealership
- A beach
- An event venue
Before creating a new destination, search the Your2Wheels destination database to see if it already exists.
Step 2 – Plan Your Route
Next, create the route that riders will follow.
Your route can include:
- Scenic roads
- Twisty back roads
- Gravel sections (where appropriate)
- Start and finish locations
- Planned stops
- GPX or KML files
Think about creating an enjoyable ride, not just the quickest way to reach the destination.
Step 3 – Add Planned Stops
Consider where riders may need to stop during the journey.
Examples include:
- Fuel stops
- Coffee breaks
- Lunch stops
- Scenic lookouts
- Rest areas
- Regrouping points
Use the Points of Interest (POI) database to discover interesting locations that you can manually include as stops along your route.
Step 4 – Create an Event (Optional)
If you’re inviting other riders to join you, create an event and link it to your route.
During event creation you can:
- Associate the event with one of your groups, or
- Create it as a community event open to all Your2Wheels members.
Remember that events associated with a group automatically inherit that group’s privacy settings.
Step 5 – Share Your Ride
Once everything is complete, publish your route and event so other riders can discover and enjoy them.
Include:
- A clear description
- Helpful photos
- Accurate ride information
- Any special instructions for participants
The more information you provide, the easier it is for other riders to plan and enjoy the experience.
