Keep Your Routes Accurate and Up to Date
Once you’ve created a route, you can manage and update it whenever needed.
Keeping your routes current ensures other riders have the most accurate information and helps them enjoy the ride you’ve shared.
Viewing Your Routes
To view routes you’ve created:
- Open My Routes.
- Browse the list of routes you’ve created.
- Select the route you wish to manage.
From here you can view, edit or update your route.
Editing a Route
You can edit your route at any time to improve the information or reflect changes.
You may wish to update:
- Route title
- Description
- GPX file
- Route map
- Destination
- Route locations and stops
- Photos
- Route parameters such as distance and estimated duration
After making your changes, save or update the route so other riders see the latest information.
Updating Your GPX File
If you’ve made changes to your planned ride or have a more accurate GPX file available, you can replace the existing file.
Uploading an updated GPX file helps ensure riders are following the latest version of your route.
Updating Route Parameters
If your route changes or you notice the automatically calculated distance or estimated travel time isn’t accurate, you can manually update these details.
Keeping this information current helps riders better plan their day and understand what to expect before setting off.
Updating Photos
Photos are one of the best ways to showcase a route.
You can add or replace photos at any time.
Consider updating your gallery with:
- Seasonal scenery
- Road conditions
- Scenic viewpoints
- New attractions
- Better quality images
Fresh photos encourage other riders to explore your route.
Updating Stops and Destinations
As roads, businesses and attractions change over time, you may wish to update:
- Fuel stops
- Coffee or lunch stops
- Rest areas
- Scenic stops
- The route destination
Reviewing your route occasionally helps ensure it remains useful for other riders.
Deleting a Route
If you’ve created a route in error or no longer wish to share it, you can delete it from My Routes.
Before deleting a route, consider whether it is linked to an event or being used by other members.
In many cases, updating an existing route is more helpful than deleting it.
Tips
Great routes evolve over time.
As you ride them again, consider improving them by:
- Adding better descriptions
- Updating route information
- Improving photos
- Including additional stops
- Refining the estimated duration
Every improvement makes your route more valuable to the Your2Wheels community.
By maintaining your routes, you’re helping build New Zealand’s largest community-driven collection of motorcycle rides.
