Add a New Motorcycle Destination

Destinations are permanent places that riders can visit and can be linked to both events and routes.

Before creating a new destination, always search to see if it already exists. This helps keep the Your2Wheels database organised and prevents duplicate destinations.

Two Ways to Create a Destination

There are two ways to add a new destination to Your2Wheels.

Option 1 – Create a Destination While Creating an Event

If you’re creating a new event and the destination doesn’t already exist, you can create it during the event creation process.

This is the quickest option when planning a new ride or event.

Simply:

  1. Create your event.
  2. Search for the destination.
  3. If it isn’t found, choose to create a new destination.
  4. Complete the destination details.
  5. Save the destination and continue creating your event.

Once created, the destination becomes available for future events and routes.

Option 2 – Create a Destination Directly

You can also create destinations without creating an event.

This is useful if you want to build the Your2Wheels destination database or add places you’ve discovered while riding.

To create a destination directly:

  1. Open My Destinations.
  2. Click Add Destination.
  3. Complete the destination information.
  4. Upload photos (recommended).
  5. Save your destination.

Your destination will then be available for you and other members to use when creating future events and routes.

Completing the Destination Details

When creating a destination, try to provide as much useful information as possible.

Include:

  • Destination name
  • Address or map location
  • Description
  • Category (if applicable)
  • Contact details (where applicable)
  • Opening hours (if known)
  • Website or social media links (if available)
  • Photos

The more information you provide, the more valuable the destination becomes for other riders.

Choosing Good Photos

Photos help riders decide whether they’d like to visit a destination.

Consider adding images of:

  • The venue
  • Motorcycle parking
  • Scenic surroundings
  • Food and drinks
  • Attractions
  • Meeting areas

Clear, high-quality images are always recommended.

Before You Save

Before publishing your destination, check that:

  • The destination doesn’t already exist.
  • The name is accurate.
  • The map location is correct.
  • Photos are clear.
  • The description is helpful for other riders.

Tips

Think beyond just cafés and restaurants.

Great destinations also include:

  • Scenic attractions
  • Campgrounds
  • Motorcycle dealerships
  • Museums
  • Beaches
  • Waterfalls
  • Accommodation
  • Meeting points
  • Historic sites
  • Ferry terminals

By sharing great destinations, you’re helping build New Zealand’s largest community-driven motorcycle destination guide.
